Bob Bradley has effectively ended any prospect of succeeding Martin O'Neill as Aston Villa manager by extending his deal as USA coach.

Reports had surfaced that Bradley was poised for a move across the pond, with Villa's American owner Randy Lerner set to offer him the vacant managerial post following O'Neill's departure this summer.

But the 52-year-old has silenced that speculation by penning a new contract as national team coach with the US Soccer Federation which runs until the end of 2014.

A statement on ussoccer.com read: "US Soccer has agreed to a contract extension with US men's national team head coach Bob Bradley.

"The agreement with Bradley, who guided the US team to numerous achievements including finishing in first place in their group at the 2010 FIFA World Cup for the first time in 80 years, will keep him at the helm through the end of 2014."

Under Bradley's reign, the USA were knocked out of the World Cup at the last 16 stage by Ghana in South Africa this summer.

Bradley led the team to the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and to the final of the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa, where his side lost to Brazil.

Just over a week ago, Bradley indicated he was interested in a switch to the Premier League, but revealed he had not spoken with Lerner.

"I'd be honoured to have a conversation with Randy Lerner," said Bradley.

"I've had no contact with him. There have been talks with my representatives to find out the situation."
