Paraguayan striker Carlos Acuna will spend the next year with Recreativo on loan after being released by Real Madrid...
Young Real Madrid striker Carlos Javier Acuna will spend the next year in Andalucia after the player agreed to move to Liga Adelante club Recreativo.
Ex-Olimpia and Cadiz star Acuna was presented as a Recreativo player yesterday, after spending a frustrating 2009-10 season at Madrid feeder club Castilla. The 22-year-old Paraguayan impressed in the first half of the season for Castilla and even made the bench for the first team against Sporting Gijon; his season however was cut short by a knee operation in January which kept him out for the remainder of the season.
"I am happy to be returning to Andalucia, I had an excellent time here with Cadiz, so for that reason it's great to be be back," Acuna told reporters yesterday in his first press conference as a Recreativo player.
"The club have given me a great reception here, and I am delighted by that."
Acuna made his debut with Paraguay's Olimpia in 2004 at the age of just 16, and moved to Spain with Cadiz in February 2005. Although only 1.75m tall the Paraguayan is known for his skills and pace as a striker, and also can be used down the left wing.
