Marcelo in the clash of Mallorca
The Madrid fans have a reason to hope after the illusion that they have led to the draw against Mallorca this past Sunday. And is that in the last three occasions when the League began tying Madrid on the first day always ended up winning another title.
The first example we have in the 1996/97 season. It was the first season of Fabio Capello on the bench in Madrid and president Lorenzo Sanz. League debut against Deportivo La Coruna in a historically jinxed stadium for Real Madrid as the Riazor. He joined a creditable draw thanks to a goal by Roberto Carlos in the second half, and closed the year by winning the league title ahead of the almighty Barcelona Ronaldo Nazario and Bobby Robson (with Mourinho as 'translator' of the English coach.)
Finished the season, Fabio Capello decided to terminate his contract as coach of Real Madrid, and his replacement came Jupp Heynckes. The German also had a brilliant debut in the league. He played in the Bernabeu against Atletico Madrid. After putting on Atletico ahead on the scoreboard with a goal from Juninho, Seedorf signed a definitive tie after scoring a sensational goal from midfield. It was an uneven season Real Madrid team in the league, but that would award the conquest of the seventh European Cup after 32 years of drought.
The latest example of a tie in the first day can make in the long run we have a title in the 2006/07 season. It was a difficult year, with a new president (Ramon Calderon), the return of Fabio Capello at Real Madrid bench and a series of signings who could not convince the staff (Emerson and Cannavaro). Competition began receiving Villarreal at the Bernabeu, to which was added a 0-0, in a meeting in which only chances, and very similar to that played against Mallorca two days ago. If after drawing on that occasion with the 'Yellow Submarine' was able to win the league, and a staff considerably worse than this, why do not you go to add titles on this occasion?
