Gonzalo Higuain remains confident that Real Madrid will win the league this season.
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain insists that their opening day draw against Real Mallorca in the Spanish Primera Division means little in terms of winning the league.Madrid were held to a scoreless stalemate by cash-strapped Mallorca on Sunday in what was also new coach Jose Mourinho's debut in the league. Although some observers have been quick to point out that los Blancos are now two points behind Barcelona in the title race, Higuain believes that they will make up for those dropped points as the season progresses.
"We couldn't win our first game, but it is important to take things slowly nonetheless," the Argentine international striker told Realmadrid.com. "The championship is long and it doesn't really matter how we start, but rather how we end. We'll see what happens.
"Mourinho is a serious and motivating coach who is used to winning. We hope he can prove Real Madrid are one of the great teams this year. The important thing is we are all learning from him."
Looking ahead to the clash between Argentina and Spain, Higuain remarked, "The match will be difficult. Every team has virtues and weaknesses, but Spain make few mistakes."
